This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on workshop leader with strong fabrication experience who takes pride in developing employees, improving workshop performance, and maintaining high standards of safety and quality.
About the Role
As the Fabrication Supervisor, you will lead the day-to-day workshop fabrication operations and coordinate personnel, machinery, equipment and resources to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently and on schedule.
Your responsibilities will include:
Leading and supervising day-to-day workshop fabrication activities.
Coordinating production schedules, personnel and resources to meet project requirements and delivery deadlines.
Monitoring workshop performance against production plans and reporting on progress.
Driving continuous improvement initiatives to increase productivity and efficiency.
Promoting and maintaining a strong safety culture across all workshop activities.
Conducting quality inspections and ensuring completed products meet drawings, specifications and applicable standards.
Mentoring, coaching and developing tradespeople and workshop employees.
Coordinating job setup, tooling, materials and production requirements to maintain an efficient workflow.
Ensuring workshop machinery and equipment are properly maintained and operated safely.
Identifying production issues and implementing practical solutions.
Working closely with management, engineering and project teams.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade, or another relevant trade qualification at Skill Level 3 or higher.
Previous experience in a fabrication, manufacturing, engineering or workshop leadership role.
Strong practical knowledge of steel fabrication and welding processes.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to supervise, motivate and develop personnel.
A sound understanding of production planning and workshop operations.
The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and production documentation.
Strong organisational and time-management skills.
Effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
A quality-focused approach with excellent attention to detail.
A strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
Current Australian C Class Driver’s Licence.
The ability to successfully complete a pre-employment medical and drug and alcohol screening.
Highly Regarded
Forklift Licence (LF).
Dogging (DG) and Rigging High Risk Work Licences.
Experience within heavy steel fabrication, mining or industrial projects.
Familiarity with quality assurance systems and relevant Australian Standards.
