MYAC Resources is currently seeking an experienced Light-Gauge Boilermaker/Fabricator to join an established sheetmetal fabrication workshop in Perth, Western Australia.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled tradesperson with experience fabricating light-gauge steel, stainless steel and aluminium components. The successful candidate will join a supportive workshop team and work on a variety of sheetmetal fabrication projects.

About the Role

As a Light-Gauge Boilermaker/Fabricator, you will manufacture, assemble and finish sheetmetal components from workshop drawings and specifications.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Fabricating light-gauge steel, stainless steel and aluminium components.

  • Completing MIG/GMAW and TIG/GTAW welding as required.

  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, fabrication plans and job specifications.

  • Measuring, marking, cutting, folding and forming sheetmetal components.

  • Operating guillotines, press brakes, rollers and other workshop machinery.

  • Completing fit-up, welding, grinding and finishing work to a high standard.

  • Producing accurate components while working within specified tolerances.

  • Inspecting completed work to ensure it meets quality requirements.

  • Maintaining production standards and quality workmanship.

  • Working collaboratively with supervisors and other tradespeople.

  • Operating workshop machinery and equipment safely and efficiently.

  • Maintaining a clean, organised and safe work area.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade, or an equivalent recognised qualification.

  • Previous experience as a Light-Gauge Boilermaker, Sheetmetal Worker or Fabricator.

  • Demonstrated experience working in a sheetmetal fabrication workshop.

  • Experience fabricating light-gauge steel, stainless steel and aluminium.

  • Strong MIG and TIG welding skills.

  • Experience using guillotines, press brakes, rollers and other sheetmetal equipment.

  • Strong measuring, marking, fit-up and fabrication skills.

  • The ability to read and interpret engineering and fabrication drawings.

  • High attention to detail and pride in producing quality workmanship.

  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • A reliable attitude and strong work ethic.

  • A strong commitment to workplace safety and quality.

  • The ability to successfully complete a practical weld and fabrication test.

  • The ability to complete a pre-employment medical and drug and alcohol screening.

 Highly Regarded

  • Experience fabricating ductwork, cabinets, enclosures, hoppers, guards or similar sheetmetal products.

  • Current Forklift Licence (LF).

  • Current Australian C Class Driver’s Licence.

  • Overhead crane experience.

  • Experience completing high-quality stainless steel and aluminium fabrication.

  • Experience with specialised sheetmetal workshop equipment.
