MYAC Resources is currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineering Draftsperson to join an established fabrication and engineering company servicing the mining and industrial sectors.
Our client delivers a range of steel fabrication, mechanical and engineered solutions for mining, mineral processing and heavy industrial projects. Due to continued growth, they are looking for a capable Draftsperson to support their engineering, estimating and workshop production teams.

About the Role
As a Mechanical Engineering Draftsperson, you will prepare detailed technical and fabrication drawings for mining, engineering and industrial projects.
You will work closely with the engineering, estimating, project management and workshop teams to develop practical solutions that meet client specifications and can be manufactured efficiently.
Your responsibilities will include:
Preparing detailed 2D and 3D fabrication and production drawings using CAD or similar software.
Producing workshop drawings for steel components, mechanical equipment and fabricated assemblies.
Interpreting client drawings, technical specifications and project requirements.
Developing practical designs that consider material properties, fabrication processes and workshop capabilities.
Preparing general arrangement, assembly and detailed component drawings.
Producing bills of materials, cutting lists and other production documentation.
Supporting estimating, costing and project-planning activities.
Liaising with clients, suppliers, engineers, project managers and workshop personnel.
Providing technical support and drawing clarification during fabrication.
Reviewing drawings to identify potential fabrication, fit-up or assembly issues.
Managing multiple projects while meeting quality requirements and delivery deadlines.
Maintaining accurate drawing registers, revision histories and document control.
Assisting with design improvements and workshop productivity initiatives.
Ensuring drawings comply with relevant client requirements and Australian Standards.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Certificate IV in Engineering Drafting (MEM40422), Diploma of Engineering – Technical, or an equivalent relevant qualification.
At least two years’ experience in a mechanical, structural or fabrication drafting role.
Previous exposure to steel fabrication, mining, mineral processing or heavy industrial projects.
Working knowledge of AutoCAD in both 2D and 3D or similar software.
Experience using SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor or similar 3D modelling software.
The ability to produce accurate workshop and fabrication drawings.
A practical understanding of materials, welding, fabrication and workshop production methods.
The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, client specifications and technical documentation.
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
Effective communication, teamwork and interpersonal skills.
Competency using Microsoft Office, including Excel, and Adobe Acrobat.
A positive, practical attitude and willingness to learn.
The ability to work effectively under pressure.
Highly Regarded
Previous experience combining drafting and estimating responsibilities.
Experience working on mining equipment, structural steel, chutes, tanks, hoppers, pipework or mechanical assemblies.
Knowledge of relevant Australian fabrication and welding standards.
Experience with quality assurance and document-control systems.
Site-measurement and reverse-engineering experience.
Experience using SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor or similar 3D modelling software.
